DCAR Encourages Each of its Nearly 3,000 Members to Vote Early or On Election Day for the 2016 General Election

Voters started lining up at One Judiciary Square on October 22nd to make their vote count in the 2016 General Election. Over 7,000 votes have been tallied for an election that holds tremendous weight on the world stage. Even DC itself could make history in the statehood fight.

When and where is early voting taking place?

EARLY VOTING began at One Judiciary Square on October 22nd. Now eight other polling places around the District have also opened their doors. Early voting will continue until Friday, November 4. Find your polling place here.

ELECTION DAY is Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Registered voters can cast their ballot at 143 voting precincts within the District. Polls will open at 7:00 am and will close at 8:00 pm or until voters in line have cast their ballot.

What is on the ballot and where can I find more information?

The following contests will appear on the ballot for the general election. Highlights are of importance to DC REALTORS®.

  • Electors of President and Vice President of the United States
  • Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives
  • ***At-Large Members of the Council of the District of Columbia (two to be elected)***
  • Wards 2, 4, 7 and 8 Members of the Council of the District of Columbia
  • At-Large Member of the State Board of Education
  • Wards 2, 4, 7 and 8 Members of the State Board of Education
  • United States Senator (Shadow Senator)
  • United States Representative (Shadow Representative)
  • Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner
  • ***Advisory Referendum on DC Statehood***

Who are the candidates DCAR supports?

This year DCAR has endorsed two candidates for the At-Large race. We support the campaigns of David Grosso and Robert White. They consistently support education, small businesses and a thriving housing market in DC. Additionally, DCAR has endorsed Jack Evans for Ward 2 thanks to his years of service to DCAR’s members.
